Kissing Sweetly
A Poem
Maybe everything is decay
Perhaps everywhere is dead?
Plastic and concrete piled up
Spaces for beauty torn down
Tears silent or unable to cry
Two young lovers wearing black
Peering out past the cameras
Wishing hard for the acid rain
Or large tidal waves to swallow
Everything: them and toll points
Their worthless curated brands
Rebelling with their sadnesses
Here they held hands for a moment
Searching each otherβs eyes
She smiled acknowledging pain
And kissed to forget anxiety
Feeling warm in vintage coats
On the beautiful old park bench
A parrot landing on the arm
Sickened by food β soon to expire
Doomed, without realisation
